Indonesia Sends 80 Tons of Aid to Gaza on 80th Independence Day
Gaza, August 17, 2025 – On the 80th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia’s independence, the Red and White Task Force II delivered humanitarian aid to Gaza via airdrop. Supplies included ready-to-eat meals, medicine, emergency equipment, and other essentials.
The mission involved 66 personnel under the command of Colonel PNB Puguh Julianto, Commander of the Garuda Red and White II Task Force. The operation was coordinated by Jordan and joined by 10 countries, including Indonesia.
“On the first day, August 17, we successfully delivered 17.8 tons of aid—a symbolic number matching Indonesia’s independence date. In the following six days, the total aid will reach 80 tons, as a sign of Indonesia’s compassion and a commemoration of 80 years of independence,” said Colonel Puguh.
The aid was dropped using 600 parachutes from the air. The airdrop method was chosen for being faster, more effective, and more precise compared to land routes, which are riskier and take longer.
Residents in Gaza welcomed the aid amid the humanitarian crisis. This action symbolized that Indonesia’s independence celebrations are not only marked by ceremonies at home, but also by solidarity with people across the globe.
