The spirit of *gotong royong* (mutual cooperation), along with community care, creativity, and persistence, can serve as a powerful force for driving change starting at the most local level—within one's own home and neighborhood. A movement that eventually garnered international attention originated in a humble alleyway in East Jakarta. This story serves as a reminder that significant change can begin in the simplest of places.
