An atmosphere of solemnity enveloped the National Monument (Monas) area in Jakarta on the night of Saturday, August 1, 2026. More than 100,000 worshippers attended the National *Dhikr* (remembrance) and Prayer gathering—organized by the government—which served as the opening event for the series of commemorations marking the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia's independence.
