Jakarta - The student protests that have been taking place in Jakarta are still ongoing as of the evening. At 6:20 PM local time (WIB), members from the Executive Board of Students at Universitas Indonesia (BEM UI) were seen retreating from the protest area after several hours of demonstrating.
However, the action is not over yet. The position left by the crowd of BEM UI was then filled by students from other universities who also joined in the protest. Crowds from several campuses continued to arrive, keeping up the concentration of participants at the site.
From the aerial view, crowds of students could be seen forming distinct blocks of colors that represented their respective campuses' alma maters. The dominant shades of navy blue and forest green created a striking contrast amidst the large number of protesters.
This shift in mass demonstrates that the movement still enjoys support from various student elements. Although some participants have left the site, other waves of students remain to voice their aspirations.
Until the evening approached nightfall, the situation at the protest site was still bustling with students alternately delivering speeches. Security forces also remained on guard around the area to oversee the demonstration's progress and maintain order throughout the event.
