Sometimes life feels heavy not because the problems are too big, but because our minds and hearts are already too full.
Overthinking, disappointment, exhaustion from circumstances, combined with negative energy from the people around us, can make us lose our motivation.
If you're currently in that phase, maybe it's time to slowly reset yourself.
You don't need to change 180 degrees overnight. Just start with small steps and do them consistently.
1. Start by Forgiving Yourself
Before trying to improve your life, forgive yourself first.
Forgive yourself for every mistake you've made. Forgive the decisions that did not turn out the way you hoped. Forgive the version of yourself who simply didn't know then what you know now.
And if there are people who have accused, belittled, or hurt you, forgive them too. Not for their sake, but for your own peace of mind.
Remember, forgiveness does not mean you have to reconnect with or stay attached to the people who hurt you. Simply let go of the burden and move forward with your life.
2. Choose Content That Expands Your Knowledge
What you consume every day will influence the way you think and feel.
If your days are filled with drama, gossip, and negative content, don't be surprised if your mind feels overwhelmed too.
Try replacing some of your scrolling time with podcasts, Islamic lectures, audiobooks, educational videos, or content that helps you grow.
It doesn't have to be complicated. What matters is that after watching, you gain new knowledge instead of feeling even more stressed.
3. Start Journaling
Instead of oversharing with everyone, try pouring your thoughts onto paper or into a notes app.
Write down everything you feel:
- What made you sad.
- What you're grateful for today.
- The things that have been on your mind.
- The goals you want to achieve.
The beauty of journaling is that no one judges you and no one reads it.
Sometimes, after writing things down, we realize that the problems in our heads are not as big as we imagined.
4. Try Practicing the “Path of Heaven” for 30 Days
If you want a more peaceful life, don't only improve your worldly affairs—strengthen your relationship with Allah as well.
Challenge yourself for 30 days:
- Wake up during the last third of the night.
- Perform Tahajjud prayer.
- Increase your Istighfar (seeking forgiveness).
- Give charity, even if it is only a small amount.
- Read the Qur'an every day.
- Maintain your prayers on time.
Besides seeking Allah's pleasure, waking up earlier also builds discipline and makes your day feel more productive.
Many successful people start their day before sunrise. It's not a coincidence, because the morning carries abundant blessings.
5. Stop Procrastinating
Sometimes what makes us stressed is not that we have too much work, but that we keep postponing it.
The longer we delay it, the heavier it feels.
From now on, set three main priorities every day:
- The most important task.
- The task that brings you closer to your goals.
- One small thing you've been putting off for a long time.
Focus on completing them one by one.
You don't need to be 100% productive. What matters is making progress every day.
6. Stop Comparing Yourself to Others
Social media often makes us feel left behind.
In reality, what we see is only the highlight reel of other people's lives, not the struggles happening behind the scenes.
Focus on your own journey.
There is nothing wrong with moving slowly, as long as you do not stop.
7. Clean Up Your Environment and Relationships That Drain Your Energy
Sometimes negative energy does not come from within yourself, but from your surroundings.
Start reducing:
- Unnecessary drama.
- Friendships that only appear when they need something.
- People who constantly belittle your dreams.
- Environments that make it difficult for you to grow.
Choose an environment that helps you become the best version of yourself.
Closing
Nothing changes overnight.
Self-development is not about becoming perfect; it is about becoming a little better than you were yesterday.
"Sometimes what needs to be reset is not your life, but your perspective on life." ✨
When will you start?
Today?
Tomorrow?
Or will you keep postponing it, just like yesterday?
