News of Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi's move to the South Korean Volleyball League club, Hyundai Hillstate, has become one of the most discussed news stories among Indonesian volleyball fans.
Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi has officially joined Hyundai Hillstate in the 2026/2027 Korean Volleyball League. The club announced Megawati's agreement to join Hillstate via a social media post on Monday (May 11).
Megawati's Salary at Hyundai Hillstate
According to reports from several South Korean media outlets cited by various Indonesian media outlets, Megawati is estimated to receive a salary of US$170,000 per season, or around Rp 2.9 to Rp 3 billion per year.
This will be Megawati's third year in the Korean Volleyball League, following two previous years with the Red Sparks in 2023/2024 and 2024/2025.
The contract value of nearly Rp 3 billion per season makes Megawati one of the highest-paid foreign Asian players in the Korean Volleyball League. Hyundai Hillstate recruited her for a reason. During her time with the Red Sparks, Megawati became a key points-scoring force and helped the team achieve a feat the club had long eluded.
With Megawati joining Hyundai Hillstate, Indonesian volleyball fans are certainly hoping that "Megatron" will once again demonstrate her best form and lead her new club to compete for the 2026/2027 V-League title.
